Clinical Approach
Nurturing Hope Counseling offers individual therapy for
adolescents and adults. I use a client-focused and collaborative
approach that incorporates trauma-informed care and culturally
sensitive methods. I provide evidence-based therapies tailored to each person’s needs, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing (EMDR), and other approaches. I work with clients managing stress, trauma, anxiety, depression, relationship challenges, and major life transitions, helping them reconnect with their resilience and inner wisdom.
Together, we focus on building understanding, coping skills, and
practical strategies to support meaningful growth and lasting
change.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy helps us understand the connection between our thoughts, emotions, and behaviors. Shaped by life experiences, culture, and expectations, these patterns can sometimes feel overwhelming. CBT offers a compassionate, practical way to gently explore them and develop healthier coping skills that support your well-being.
In our work together, we’ll identify unhelpful thought patterns, honor how your lived experiences influence them, and practice tools you can use in everyday life. CBT is collaborative and paced to your comfort, helping you build confidence, resilience, and meaningful change.
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing)
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) helps reduce the emotional intensity of distressing or traumatic memories. Using bilateral stimulation, EMDR supports the brain’s natural healing process without requiring you to relive or verbally revisit every painful detail. This approach can bring relief and help you feel more grounded and at ease.
EMDR can help clients work through:
-
Childhood trauma or emotional neglect
-
PTSD and complex trauma (C-PTSD)
-
Assault or domestic violence
-
Grief or unresolved loss
-
Anxiety, panic attacks, or chronic stress
-
Depression related to past event
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
Internal Family Systems is a model of psychotherapy that views us as having multiple parts, with a person's core or true Self underlying them. Trauma can lead our wounded parts to become exiled, overprotective, or suppressive, leaving us feeling stuck and disconnected from our true Self.
IFS works to unburden our wounded parts and reestablish healthy communication with the Self, so that wholeness can be restored.

Mindfulness
Mindfulness is the practice of returning to and paying attention to the present moment with openness, curiosity, and acceptance.

Practicing mindfulness can help you feel more alive and present in your life, reduce stress and anxiety, improve focus, and enhance your ability to manage emotions and chronic pain.
